Pumpkin Creek Train Ride

2023 was the 20th anniversary of the Pumpkin Creek Railroad, a huge milestone in the expansion of Vala’s.

  • Freya’s Egg Spinners (NEW 2024!): Take a spin on our newest ride, in cars shaped like giant eggs. Height restriction.
  • Hayrack Ride to the Pumpkin Field: The ride that started it all! Fourty years ago, Tim Vala was giving all the rides out to to field himself! These days, a trip to Vala’s still isn’t complete without a ride to the pumpkin patch. Tim describes seeing a field full of ripe orange pumpkins as similar to seeing the ocean for the first time, with waves of orange and green stretching over entire fields. Depending on the tractor route, each ride cold take up to an hour round-trip. You have the option of getting off in the field to pick a pumpkin or staying on for just the ride.
  • Hayrack Ride to the Apple Orchard: For a ride to the orchard, you purchase a you-pick bag before boarding the hayrack. Then you’re dropped off at a spot where apples are ripe and ready for picking. Check which varieties are in season on our you-pick apple page. Running 9am to 6:30pm daily.
  • Barnyard Adventure Ride: Great for all ages, ride a tractor train through old barns decorated with cute scenes sure to delight.

For an Extra Charge

  • Apple Blasters: In the Apple Area, blast apples from an air cannon into a target. Aim for the bell to hear a satisfying “BOING!”

  • Farmageddon Paintball Shootout: The zombie farm animals need your help! Take aim under the black lights with interactive targets.

  • Gemstone Mining: Buy a bag of dirt and then sift through it using mesh sieves in the sluice, looking for pretty gems. This is fun and educational!
