FAQS
Have questions? We have answers!
Yes, the entire farm is cashless with the following exceptions:
- The Admissions Barn (the entrance). Although we still recommend using credit/debit cards or mobile payments there, you can still pay for the admissions fees with cash. You can also use cash to buy Vala Gift Cards to use throughout the farm for purchases in food, retail, and attractions locations on the farm.
- Because we are a large farm there are 4 additional locations on the farm that will accept cash to purchase $20 Vala’s Gift Cards: Calamity Jan’s, Spencer’s Dugout, InFARMation Booth and Big Barn Exit.
- Pony Rides still accept cash.
All other areas of the farm, including food locations, will only accept cashless forms of payment.
Yes. However, we don’t recommend this form of payment. In the past this form of payment has often been declined by our Square POS system if there is not enough value loaded onto the card for the entire purchase. Our system does not give an explanation for the decline so the card cannot be used. In other words, if you are purchasing something at Vala’s for $25 and there is only $24 left on the VISA Gift Card, the card will be declined and we will not know why. If you know exactly how much value is on the card (by calling the number on the back) we may be able to enter that amount, run the card, and then finish the transaction with one of your other credit cards.
No, there are no refunds or cash back on purchased Vala’s Gift Cards but they can be used on future visits and never expire. To “use up” the value of a gift card on your final purchase, present the Vala’s Gift Card as the first form of payment and use a credit card to finish the transaction.
There are no minimums, maximums, or set incremental values. Our Admissions Staff Members will be able to accept any amounts for admissions and Vala Gift Cards. However, once inside the farm, our staff members will not be able to give change back or break large bills. Any amount to the penny can be transferred onto the Vala Gift Card. What you have in cash can be exactly transferred to the Vala’s Gift Card.
We accept all major types of card payments that our POS system, Square, accepts. We also accept all digital, contactless payments that Square accepts, such as Apple Pay and Google Pay, etc.
The only option available is to present the Vala’s Gift Card as the first form of payment and use a credit card to finish the transaction. The Big Barn Exit cashiers will not be able to accept cash payments.
All major credit cards are accepted online and on-site: Visa, MasterCard, American Express, Discover
Yes, we can take orders for gift cards over the phone or on the farm at the Admissions Office. Gift cards make great gifts for family members and friends who plan to come to Vala’s Pumpkin Patch.
Pumpkins are purchased at the Exit Barn and are $.59 per pound. If you choose a giant pumpkin weighing over 80 lbs, the cost is $35.99 per pumpkin. There are about 30 varieties of pumpkins grown at Vala’s on 55 acres of farm ground. Most pumpkins are chosen from the field but we have many pre-picked pumpkins around the exit area to choose from. A hayrack ride to the field is included in your admission price.
Vala’s Pumpkin Patch is a closed work site for most of the year, restricted to Vala’s workers only. During our off-season we do NOT allow professional photographers to hold photography sessions on the farm. Special permission may be granted on a case-by-case basis and a $100.00 fee will be charged, call 402-332-4200 to inquire about available times. (Exceptions may be made for magazines, newspapers and other press or promotional photography). During our Fall Festival, when we are open to the public, we are happy to welcome professional photographers onto the farm to hold photography sessions with their clients. We ask that you call ahead to give us advanced notice of your arrival (402-332-4200). The professional photographer on the shoot and the client(s) will be charged general admission for the day.
Vala’s does not allow drones on the property without prior permission from the Vala family.
